Vardan Aramyan currently holds the position of First Deputy chief of Staff of the RA President’s administration and is in charge of economic policy issues. In his previous position as a Deputy Minister of Finance he was coordinating the fields of international economic relations, macroeconomic policy and financial markets.
His professional career launched from the Central bank as a specialist in the Monetary Policy Department in 1999. Further on moving through all levels of positions he was appointed as a head of external Economic Relations Division at the Monetary Policy Department. Mr. Aramyan also was a member of team of researchers working on economic models for the adoption of Inflation targeting regime which was successfully launched by the Central Bank since 2006.
Currently he is one of the leaders in the team, working on comprehensive multiplier pension reform in Armenia. He has numerous articles and research papers published in the fields of Monetary and Exchange rate policies, Real Exchange Rate misalignments, Fiscal Policy and Fiscal sustainability issues. He was awarded with gold medal by Prime Minister and “Ananya Shirakatci” medal by President of RA for his vital contribution in the sphere of Armenia’s economic development.
Mr. Aramyan has received various advanced training certificates from different International financial and academic institutions. In 2002 he got a “letter of excellence” from the Joint Vienna Institute for the best records during the four month intensive “Applied Economic Policy” training course for young policy makers.
